Description:

We are seeking an experienced a Low Probability Intercept Altimeter (LPIA) Engineer to provide technical engineering support for fielded systems and experience in Avionics specifically with RADAR Altimeters.

Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate systems. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
Attends and provides technical expertise at Systems Engineering/Program Management meetings, responds to data calls from customer program manager or technical counterparts and provides technical assistance as required.
The LPIA Systems Engineer shall be well informed on and apply modern best practices of a system's life-cycle (e.g. requirements, engineering designs, documentation, usability, integration, test, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, decommissioning, etc. Identify system integrity issues and solutions for the full system life cycle from concept to disposal. Ensure that all appropriate technical and operational disciplines are applied to the project development process.

Experience Required:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical knowledge and experience in Avionics specifically with RADAR Altimeters.
- In depth knowledge and experience with Digital Signal Processing for radar applications.
- Experienced in applying a Systems Engineering approach to program engineering.
- Experience with Military Standards, i.e., MIL- STD-461/464, MIL-STD-704 testing and compatibility issues.
- Familiarity with avionics box level software development, LPI/LPD and safety certification requirements.
- Familiarity with Low Probability of Intercept signals including characteristics that contribute to detect-ability.
- Understanding of antenna characteristics and their influence on RF system performance.
- An ability to work with multi discipline team (program management, logistic, contracts, test, budget, etc.).
- Experience working in and/or coordinating with platform Program Offices.
- Experience in coordinating lab and flight testing of equipment and adaptable to working through software integration problem-sets.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Experience in developing Statements of Work (SOW) and associated CDRLs, reviewing CDRL deliverables, performing proposal technical evaluations, prepare/update program documentation such as Security Classification Guides, Functional Requirements Documents and Performance Specifications for new capabilities and/or obsolescence redesigns, and providing fleet support for the DMC/DVMC, AMU, PC Cards and the LPIA for multiple platform customers.
- Knowledge/Experience in evaluating contractor proposals desirable.
- Knowledge/Experience in managing software development efforts desirable.
- Experience in providing in-service engineering support including (ECPs, Engineering Investigations (EIs), etc.)
- Knowledgeable of both FFP and CPFF contracts and the unique challenges of each.
- Experience working with both development programs and COTS items is desirable.
- Experienced in applying a Systems Engineering approach to program engineering.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience of both software and hardware for aircraft avionics, specifically Radar, Moving Map, aircraft integration and understanding of Naval air Systems Command (NAVAIR) processes with interfacing with TAE’s.
- Experience working at NAVAIR and understands the command’s priorities and the organizational structure, it’s programs and processes as a whole.
