TapHere! Technology is looking for a SDA Image Science Engineer that will provide support and expertise in the areas of Space Domain Awareness (SDA), image processing, object detection and characterization, and orbital analysis. The engineer/scientist will have the opportunity to evaluate and improve SDA algorithms for image processing. The ideal candidate will feel comfortable working across R&D and operational lab environments, with multidisciplinary teams in a mixed-contractor environment, and direct government customer interfacing. Image Scientists are responsible for providing image expertise in support of developing analytical processes and tools as well as assessing image quality impacts associated with collection and processing for dissemination, archival, exploitation and display of digital imagery collected from remote sensing systems.

• Space Domain Awareness engineer providing support to a multidisciplinary team and customer.
• Assess utility of SDA data processing routines and advanced algorithms operating on today’s baseline and emerging remote sensing systems.
• Investigates, analyzes and provides solutions to complex problems encountered by engineering services and quality control using standard engineering practices.
• Hands-on work with data simulation toolsets.
• Provide guidance in the areas of image science & processing, astrodynamics, orbital analysis, and tools.
• Authors and prepares technical documents and presentations.
• Supports studies / analysis and support tool improvement efforts.
• Utilize physics-based modeling and data simulation.

Skills Required:

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience with object tracking techniques like Kalman filtering, multi-hypothesis, and particle filtering
• Exposure to astrodynamics and orbital mechanics tools such as STK, NASA GMAT, Orekit, TASAT, ODTK, Free Flyer, SGP4 and other propagator code libraries
• Proficient understanding of orbit propagation models / tools, orbit determination, catalog correlation, and raw observation processing
• Experience with orbit analysis and prediction, transfer orbits, plane changes, and orbit maneuvers
• Experience with orbit determination, conjunction assessment, and trajectory analysis (i.e. working with two-line element sets)
• Remote Sensing experience, including image formation, pixel processing, point spread function (PSF) analysis, optical MTF, point source photometry, radiometry, sensor calibration, etc.
• Prior experience with image data processing throughout entire lifecycle from data acquisition through exploitation
• Demonstrated experience with direct customer engagement and team-focused project execution
